Mr. Incredible wins grand champion

The 2012 Grand Champion Market Meat Goat for the Inter-State Fair in Coffeyville went to Dillon McNickle’s 119 pound goat numbered 456.

The Mound Valley, Kan. boy has shown sheep for several years, and on his parent’s farm, there are about 40 goats. “Too many to name,” Dillon said, so they are called by their ear tag number.

Dillon, who is 12, will be in seventh grade this fall at Mound Valley School. He’s looking forward to sports and playing basketball, baseball, and possibly running track. His baseball team, the Labette County All-Stars, advanced to a finals tournament in North Dakota a month ago where they played two games but lost both. It was cold in North Dakota, Dillon said.

He is an NBA sports fan, with the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder as his favorite teams. His favorite players are LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

At the fair, Dillon will show several other goats, sheep, and a steer.

He also won the Intermediate Showmanship Award. He is the son of Gary and Brenda McNickle.

The goat show judge was Nick Shelton of Manhattan, Kan. Complete results for the show follow.
