A brother-sister team took home grand champion and reserve champion honors at the 2012 Inter-State Fair and Rodeo Market Steer Show in Coffeyville.
Seth Miller won grand champion with his 1325 lb. Simmental steer, and his younger sister Katie won reserve champion with her Chiangus steer.
This is the fourth year that Seth has shown at the fair, and it is Katie’s second year.
Katie named her steer Chi, and she likes him because he is gentle and “you can scratch him behind his back legs and he’ll raise his leg up for you.” Seth’s steer was named by Katie, who called him Simi, because of his breed.
This fall, Seth is a seventh grade student and Katie is in fifth grade. Seth enjoys science class and may be a wildlife biologist when he grows up. Katie likes math and hopes to be a surgeon when she grows up, because “bloodiness doesn’t bother me.”
At the fair, the Miami, Okla. siblings love the rides and the food. Katie prefers the tilt-a-whirl and funnel cakes while Seth likes tacos, and all of the rides.
The two are members of the Golden Rocket 4-H Club of Welch, Okla. They are the children of Justin and Carrie Miller.
