Rodeo Stock Contractor Honored - July 29, 2010
The Inter-State Rodeo stock contractor Bennie Beutler has been inducted into the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association’s Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs.
Beutler, who is the third generation of his family to be involved in the family business of Beutler and Son Rodeo Co., was one of five inductees for this year to the Hall of Fame, which recognizes people, rodeos, and rodeo animals who have made significant contributions to pro rodeo.
Rodeo committee man Joe Rinkenbaugh says the honor is well deserved. “Because of Bennie’s position in rodeo, he knows exactly what’s going on in the industry. He knows what will work and what won’t work.”
Joe Humble, rodeo committee co-chair, has worked extensively with Beutler to set up this year’s rodeo. “He’s a straightforward guy and not afraid to give you his opinion. I enjoy working with him. He has a good sense of humor, but he’s a no-nonsense guy, too.”
The Beutler family provided livestock for the Inter-State Rodeo years ago, and when the committee wanted to make a change in stock contractor, they contacted Beutler and Son Rodeo. “Bennie’s family had been here years ago, so he was the one we sought out,” Rinkenbaugh said.
This year will be Beutler and Son Rodeo Co.’s third year of providing bucking horses and bulls at the Inter-State Rodeo. Bennie’s son Rhett, the fourth generation of Beutlers to run the business, is now involved with his father, and his children, daughter Taylor, 6, and Jake, 3, travel with their family.
